We have 39 brood jennets that we breed approxiamately every two years. Their heights range from 28" to 33½" with an average height of 31 ½". We have 16 young jennets that will not be bred until they are close to 4 years of age. As these young jennets are added to our breeding program we will be offering some of our other jennets for sale to keep our herd at a manageable number. We want to always be able to give each of our donkeys the individual attention that they so crave. Some of these jennets may be offered with their new foals at their sides.

We have had 14 foals so far in 2010. We have 5 more due from August thru November. Jennets are lined up below in the order that we expect them to foal next or when they last foaled.

We have just added this sweet, stocky girl to our brood jennet band. She has had one foal in her lifetime. Cee Cee was hand bred to Heiken's Ark Napoleon one time for a foal due on September 29th, 2010. So we know her exact due date!! Yippee!! But she is making changes fast so we expect her to foal early!  Cee Cee is in the 1st stall and paddock by herself.

Picabo was owned by our mentors, Ed & Linda Trimnell of Windcrest Acres, since she was a young foal and Linda considered her to be her best producing jennet. When Windcrest Acres went out of business due to health reasons Picabo was sold to Kathy Loudamy at K & K Ranch. Picabo produced many more champions while owned by Kathy and she would have never parted with her except that she was the hardest donkey to catch she had ever encountered. Since Kathy is usually always alone at the barn she offered her to me since my husband is retired and we do all of our donkey chores together. I have admired Picabo and her offspring thoughout all the years I have been involved in donkeys and I jumped at the chance to own such a fantastic little spotted donkey. I thought I would have no trouble training Miss Picabo to easily be caught.

Day one of owning her: I kept her in a stall and small paddock and gave her a treat every time I passed her but only if she would allow me to put the halter on her. I must have repeated this lesson no less than 50 times that day. Late that afternoon I turned Picabo out in a larger pasture since I was going to be gone all the next day. About an hour later I went to her pasture just to see if I could catch her. Well....... she ran like the wind  before I even got within 30' of her!! She was so far away that she could not have heard me saying 'cookie, cookie' if I had used a megaphone. A cowboy with a 500' rope could not have lassoed her!! I called Kathy and told her I wanted my money back. Kathy promptly told me that Picabo was my 'diet donkey' and she insisted I keep her so that I would be forced to lose weight. At this rate I should weigh about 100 lbs by this time next year. If you are ever this way please stop by for a visit and help me catch Miss Boo so I can worm her and do her little hooves occasionally. All help will be so appreciated. Just consider visiting Picabo and me instead of going to the gym. I will keep you posted on the continuing saga of  "Catch Me If You Can".

"Boo" has retained her great conformation through eight foals and due to her refusal to be caught easily. She is square and drafty and she is a long time producer of show quality donkeys with her same outstanding build.

Picabo is bred to Sunset Acres Rowdy Yates for a September 14th, 2010 foal but I swear I don't know how he caught her!!! Boo is bff with Tilly but is temporarily best friends with Valerie while in the maternity ward.

Thank you to The Randall Family for their expert assistance in handling Miss Boo during her photo shoot!! Now you can see why I love her even if she is hard to catch sometimes!

Boo is now under the barn cam in the 2nd stall and paddock with Valerie who is also due late this fall.

Boo has produced the following eight foals:

1) Windcrest Little Trinket, 6/16/98, a show winner;
2) Windcrest Little Chanelle, spotted jennet 6/2/00, a show winner;
3) Windcrest Sky's The Limit, 3/29/01, 2002 Grand Natl ACOSA Spotted Jack Eastern Nationals;
4) Windcrest Over the Top, 8/22/02, loud colored spotted jack foal ACOSA two & under National Champion & Reserve Champ;
5) Windcrest April Charm, 4/04/04, dark spotted jennet.

7) KKR Tuff Enough, 4/06/07, dark spotted jack with blue eyes;
8) KKR Eight Belles, gray jennet 8/16/08.

They don't come any cuter than this tiny toy tank! Shimmy has been hand bred to Pine Grove Farm's Peppercorn Jack for her first foal due October 19th, 2010. Shimmy is now eight months past her last heat cycle. We believe she is in foal although we have not tested her.  Her belly is really growing and she has not come back in season. Shimmy is Peppercorn Jack's full time companion. She has a fit if you try to take her away from him! Pepper could care less because she bosses him around. They are the cutest couple you have ever seen. Update! We finally separated Shimmy from Pepper and she is now with Ebony in a stall by themselves under the barn cam. Ebony and Shimmy are in the front middle paddock where there is no barn cam.

Valerie is very small, stout, and correct with a great rear end...very hard to find that combination in a spot. Photos above of Valerie were taken on August 6th, 2008, less than 24 hours after she delivered her last foal.

Update 10/20/09: We took Valerie to the vet's for an exterior ultrasound pregnancy check and they did not see a baby.

New update 10/28/09: Valerie came into a raging heat today so the ultrasound was correct and she was not in foal. We hand bred her to Firefly for a foal due 10/28/10.  Her belly is growing and she does appear to be in foal this time as we have not observed her in season again.

Valerie is now under the barn cam in the 2nd stall and paddock along with Picaboo.

Valerie is the dam of the following four foals:

1) Windcrest Morning Glory, spotted jennet foaled 10/17/99;
2) Windswept Farm Lil Jay, gray gelding foaled 4/17/01;
3) Windcrest It's a Wrap, black herd sire foaled 5/26/03.

Bell was born one day before my retirement from 34 years of service with BellSouth Telecommunications Company. We named Bell in honor of this long awaited day. This is Glorianna's fourth foal and her fourth jennet in a row! Bell is a full sister to Bedazzled who was purchased by Nissen's Lazy N Ranch in The 2004 Great American Donkey Sale in Ohio. She is also a full sister to Hey Sailor, who we have retained in our herd. Bell has a beautiful tiny head and she is very stocky and stout.

Bell was sold as a weanling and we just recently purchased her when her previous owner went out of the donkey business. We have always regretted letting her go and we were so glad to have the opportunity to add her back to our herd. Ma Bell was bred to My World Winston for a foal due 4/15/11. We purchased Tina after The Great American Miniature Donkey Sale on July 26th, 2008. She is very well balanced for such a small jennet. Tina should have been named Buttons and Bows as she has two identical bows on each of her sides right in front of her hips. She is such a tiny thing that we will wait until she is almost four years old to bred her for the first time. Photos and videos taken on November 7th, 2009. Thank you to my new friend, Dena, for helping me take these wonderful photos of tiny Tina! We received a comment from someone asking if Tina had an overbite because of the way she is holding her mouth in some of her photos. Tina has a dead on perfectly even bite. She was in season the day we took these photos and videos and she was just holding her mouth funny part of the time. She was not in the mood to have her photos taken and only wanted the treats we were holding. Again let me state that her bite is perfectly even as all of our breeding jennets are!!! If any of our donkeys have an unexceptable bite they are always sold as pets and never used for breeding. Tina is bff with Puzzles.

    Tina is now with our junior herd sire, Black 'n' Blue (aka Bruise. We last observed her in season on 4/25/10.

    Alanis, Bow's dam, stood Grand National Spotted Jennet the only year we showed her and later she produced a baby even better than she is....a sign of a great brood jennet! Bow was born on her mom's birthday...no wonder she is the spittin' image of her...but even better. She was expertly delivered by Julia and Rhonda Vaughn while they were house-sitting for us when we were away attending Wayne Lyon's Driving Seminar in Texas. A big 'Thank-You' to both Julia and Rhonda for delivering the best spotted jennet ever born on this farm! Also a thanks to Julia for naming her godchild! She is stocky and tiny and has the most pleasing personality. We have measured her several times since we have owned her and she has measured exactly 29¾" every time.

    Update! Sailor is home from Kathy's after three months of intensive training. She is now a perfect little lady and will trot beside you on command, side pass, back, etc. Money well spent. Sailor was shown at two shows while she was away and she placed 5th and 4th in her two classes and was a perfect little lady. We are very proud of our little Sailor. Thank you, Kathy, for a job well done! Photos above were taken on October 14th, 2008. Didn't Kathy do a great job of getting Sailor into show condition! Sailor did not really 'get into' being a show donkey. She is too laid back. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get her ears and head up for her new photos. We purchased Tilly because she has been buddied up with Picabo for years and years and we just hate to separate best friends. We just love the Trenton line and Tilly is a daughter of Trenton. This line produces such great legs on their foals! Tilly is as sweet as they come and easy to catch if you can ever separate her from her best friend, Picabo, the race donkey. Tilly has black/brown spots that are so popular now and she has a beautiful spot pattern. Tilly has wonderful conformation with a beautiful short wide head. Tilly is bff with Picabo !

    Sheila is really one of the nicest grey jennys I have ever seen. She is small and compact with a pretty head and beautiful eye. Her foals have been just like her with superior conformation. We have always admired Sheila ever since we first visited Flight of Fancy Miniatures in New Hampshire and picked Sheila out as our favorite. That was many years ago and we are finally proud to call Sheila our own. Sheila was named after the famous woman aviator, Sheila Scott. Sheila will be bred to Napoleon later this year after she has settled in to her new life in the sunny south. Or we may just let her rest until next year.

    Sheila is the dam of the following foals:

    1) Flight of Fancy Songbird, 4/21/02, gray jennet;
    2) Flight of Fancy Chopper, 6/12/04, red/brown jack;

    We are very excited to add Dory back to our brood jennet string. We had sold her years ago as a youngster to our great friend, Jane Savage, at Flight of Fancy Miniatures in New Hampshire. Jane has changed her breeding program from reds and so Dory was sold back to us. Dory was trained by Kathy Loudamy at K&K Ranch in Texas and Kathy taught her how to  be a perfect lady. We will be breeding Dory to Firefly early next spring.

    Now this girl has it all...style, class, conformation, rich sorrel color, and that adoring personality. She is one of our most stocky jennets. Bridget won first in Halter Jennets and first in the Solid Color Class out of 9 entries at the Hohenwald County Fair when owned by Wit's End Farm. Photos above were taken one day after foaling in September 2008.

    Bridget and her best friend, Strawberry, were hospitalized with botulism poisoning on 2/9/10. Sadly we lost Strawberry and her red jennet foal was stillborn by c-section. Bridget has been in the hospital valiantly fighting for her life for two weeks now. She is now over the botulism but she has developed hyperlipidemia. On 2/22/10 at 2:15am she delivered her foal under vet supervision. Bridget is still so sick that she can hardly think of her foal but, so far, she is accepting him and making attempts to let him nurse after much intervention. Please continue to pray for a full recovery for Bridget and that her new little precious foal, nicknamed Mister Big, will be just fine too. I intend to post an entire update about the signs of botulism and what you can do to save your donkey. Right now our first priority is getting these two home healthy and safe. Thank you to all that are praying for their recovery. A special thank you to our personal vet, Dr. Greg Harris, and to all the vets at Tennnessee Equine Hospital and especially to Dr. Mat Povlovich and Dr. Jessica DeLisle. Another big 'thank you' to Sandy Dorris who spent the entire day with me at the vets yesterday. Your support was so greatly appreciated.
    Video is on the newborn page!

    Bridget and ner new foal, Big Money, are now home from the vets. Bridget does not have enough milk so we are feeding Mister Big every two hours around the clock. You can help us watch them on our barn cam. Forgive us if we have not answered your emails. We are too exhausted to do anything but care for our donkeys. Please continue to pray for Bridget and Big to have a complete recovery!

    Update!! 3/10/10: Bridget and Mister Big Money appear to have made a complete recovery! Thank you to everyone for your prayers!! But especially....Praise the Lord!!

    Bridget is the dam of the following four foals:

    We purchased Summer from Wit's End Farm along with her best friend and half-sister, Strawberry. These jennets have never been separated. We love this jennet also and can't decide which one we like better! In fact they look so much alike that I had them confused with one another before I figured it out from carefully comparing their photos I had taken of them over the years!

    Summer is the dam of the following five foals:
