We have 31 brood jennets that we breed approximately every other year. We have 15 young jennets that will not be bred until they are 3 years or older. As these young jennets are added to our breeding program we will be offering some of our other jennets for sale to keep our herd at a more manageable number. We want to always be able to give each of our donkeys the individual attention that they crave.

We purchased Tina after The Great American Miniature Donkey Sale on July 26th, 2008. She is very well balanced for such a small jennet. Tina should have been named Buttons and Bows as she has two identical bows on each of her sides right in front of her hips. She is such a tiny thing that we will wait until she is almost four years old to bred her for the first time. Photos and videos taken on November 7th, 2009. Thank you to my new friend, Dena, for helping me take these wonderful photos of tiny Tina! We received a comment from someone asking if Tina had an overbite because of the way she is holding her mouth in some of her photos. Tina has a dead on perfectly even bite. She was in season the day we took these photos and videos and she was just holding her mouth funny part of the time. She was not in the mood to have her photos taken and only wanted the treats we were holding. Again let me state that her bite is perfectly even as all of our breeding jennets are!!! If any of our donkeys have an unexceptable bite they are always sold as pets and never used for breeding. Tina is bff with Puzzles.

Poppy belongs to Sandy Dorris but is on loan at Half Ass Acres because she has been chosen to be Pony-Tailed Lasses “forever friend”. These two girls are a sight to behold and will be friend's for life and never separated. We don't want Pony-Tail to have anymore stress in her life. Poppy was staying here during the drought in 2007 when Wit's End Farm's well went dry and she buddied up with PTL. When Poppy becomes old enough to bred we will hand bred her and continue to let her be bff with PTL. I am sure PTL will love being an aunt to Poppy's future foals. A big 'thank you' to Sandy for allowing her to stay with her best friend.

Newsflash!! Poppy has been purchased by Half Ass Acres so she can now be a permanent friend to our little Pony-Tailed Lass! Thank you Wit's End Farm for allowing Poppy to now call Half Ass Acres her permanent home!

Sweet as honey and twice as nice! This little girl has everyone buzzing at Half Ass Acres including the bees. Glow and Firefly sure knew what they were doing making this little beauty. She is so full of personality that she has the entire farm awaiting her grand entrance to the outside paddock on the first sunny day. You can almost see and hear all the other donkeys talking about the new GIRL on the farm and wondering what all the buzz is about over this new foal. She is going to knock their socks off first day out!

Bee has it all….compact little body, heavy bones, straight legs, perfect bite, heads up attitude, unique cinnamon color, and a tiny little star.

Check back often for updates on Bee. Watch for photos of her as she buzzes around playng with all her new friends on our farm. bzzzzz....bzzzzzz......bzzzzzz

We purchased Puzzles from Itsy Bitsy Burro Co shortly after her birth. Jerry and Tonnie delivered her to us during the 2008 Great Celebration Mule & Donkey Show held July 10th thru 12th. Jerry showed her in the NMDA foal class on Thrusday and won 2nd place showing against over 10 other entries. The Wilrich's had a dog show that Saturday and had to leave so Joe showed Puzzles in the National ACOSA class and won 2nd in the Two and Under Jennet class and then went on to win Reserve National Champion Spotted Jennet her second time ever in a show ring and the first time shown by Joe. We are so very proud of our new little jennet! It is quite an accomplishment for a six month old baby. Puzzles is bff with Tina.

Well, it just took a while to name this precious little dark jennet. I can’t tell you how many names were sent to me as suggestions and I loved so many. It was so hard to pick just the right name for this perfect jennet. Thanks for all the suggestions!

She is everything one would hope for in a newborn jennet. She has the pedigree of champions, is short and stocky, straight as can be, and a charm about her that is breath taking. Goochie appears to posses all the attributes to be an awesome brood jennet, show girl, or both. We are just so blessed to have her. She proudly wears her extensive gene pool which makes her such an exceptional jennet.

If you look at her pictures, each one tells you something about her “look at me attitude”, her confidence, and her extreme beauty, her show girl pose, yet her young innocence. When you look at her your heart just melts and you immediately go to her wanting to love and adore her. I have found myself even talking to her and saying, “Goochie, Goochie Goo” sweet baby. She talks right back to me with sweet hugs and a gentle warmth. She assures me all is well and I do the same for her. She has to have an endearing name so we have chosen to name our new baby, “Goochie Goo”. She loves it and so do we.

How do we begin…Where do we start?....God has blessed us, yet again, with another gorgeous dark red jennet from Glow. Every time I look at her I have to say, “Be still my heart”, as I take in all her beauty. Glow is the dam of Little Whiskey Girl, who was 18 ¾" tall at birth (this was before we weighed our foals) and Bee Sting, who was 21½" tall and 23 lbs. at birth, and now Bumbles. What a trio of beautiful red foals Glow has had for us. Of course, let’s don’t forget the contribution made by Firefly with Bumbles and Bee. What a great combination!

Taking pictures of Bumbles was a joy. She already has that show ring stand down pat and the looks to go right in the ring and say, “Look at me”, I’m here to win.” She has a perfect 10 score from us. Bumbles is compact, straight legs, and one of the cutest little heads you’ve ever seen. We love her dark, rich, cinnimon red color so much and marvel at the way she holds that head up so high using those gorgeous red ears that look like they are lined with white bunny fur.

You may have guessed it by now, but, she is NOT for sale at this time. She will make an excellent addition to our brood jennets in a few years, and, if we elect to do so, she will be yet another show ring beauty. Until that time we will spend our days admiring her elegance. Bumbles is bff with Ponderosa Leigh.

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to one of our Mare Stare viewers, Canadianlady, who called to wake us up and tell us Bow was in labor. We had been watching Sunshine, who had all the signs of going in to labor, rather than Bow who had no immediate signs of labor. I felt for sure our viewer had made a huge mistake. Not so…Bow 's water had broken and she was in full labor right before our eyes. We, hurriedly, ran to the barn and were able get there for the beautiful birth of a perfect spotted little girl.

You may remember that Bow is the mother of our adored Pony-Tailed Lass who was born 2 years ago with no tail. Many of you helped with her doctor bills for her operations during the fund raiser named "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" that was organized by my cherished friend, Sandy Dorris. Pony Tail is one special little girl and a great mascot for us at Half Ass Acres sent to us from Heaven above. She will remain with us forever. You can now imagine some of our anxiousness about the birth of this foal. When the foal was clear of her mother, we immediately looked to make sure she had her tail. There it
was, it was gorgeous, Bow was fine, the baby was fine, and all was right with the world. I told Joe she had the prettiest tail I'd ever seen. Tears of joy, for our dear Bow and her baby, rolled down my face as I gave all the Praise and Glory to our Lord for this baby.

We have named Pony Tail's sister, "Gypsy Heart" for her beautifully colored coat and for all the warmth in our hearts over her birth. She catches your eye dancing around looking like a beautiful gypsy in all her finery. Her stocky little body is covered with spots of several colors. We see dark brown, black, even tones of red. This little spotted girl has it all in one nice solid package. We can't wait for Bow to take Gypsy out to meet her sister Pony-Tailed Lass, and her best friend, Poppy. It will certainly be a Kodak Moment. That should tell you something…..Gypsy is NOT for sale at this time.

As you can see by the photos and videos taken on September 12th, 2009, 2 days after they arrived, they are everything we could hope for. The Miniature Donkey Registry notified us that Pink Nitie's name was too long for the new 30 limit rules so her name is now FOF Aphroditie's Pink Nitie. Nitie is bff with Hissy Fit.

Grand Sire:  Arbor Ledge Little Red, 31 ½" Red
Grand Dam:  Shawmar's Fatima of Ass-Pirin Acres, 32 ¼" Dark Red

Our foaling season this year has been awesome. With each birth we seem to have been blessed with unique and absolutely gorgeous foals.

This is Felina’s second baby, her first, Radiance, is now a Junior Herd Sire at Itsy Bitsy Burro Co. They are more than pleased with him. Hissy looks exactly like her brother, Ray, except she only has a few tiny hairs for a star and Ray has a large star. In fact, she looks so much like him that we would have named her Red Ray if we had not alreeady used that name.

On June 5th, 2009 Felina started the day out as if she was in early labor and was placed in a stall. That did not make her happy so as she continued showing more and more signs of labor so we moved her to the birthing stall. She paced, and paced, and was very agitated to be so confined. We were unable to put her buddy in the next stall because we had filled that stall with hay a few days before. I went in her stall to sit with her and if I tried to leave she threw a fit. Those watching on Mare Stare were talking about how unhappy she seemed to be and wondered what was taking place. One person sent me this text message, “Felina is so spoiled, she even has to have her mom in the delivery room with her. What a hissy fit she is throwing!" That is when we knew what we would name this precious new baby.

When she was born Joe and I could not believe out eyes. This tiny little girl was wearing the most vivid red coat we have ever seen on any of our newborn foals. I was the one jumping around and throwing the “hissy fit” over her rare beauty. Weighing only 21 lbs, and standing a mere 20 ¼ inches tall she spun her way right into our hearts that very moment. Her little legs are strong and straight, and her bottom is full and round. Hissy instantly became a little lap donkey and her adoring personality let us know she was something very special. Felina is such a good mother and never worried one bit about all the “fits” taking place over her newborn beauty. In fact, we had farm visitors that very day and all of us just sat in the stall floor and played with Felina and Hissy. When standing up she only comes to Joe’s knees. She resembles a stuffed pull toy…..too beautiful to be real.

Once again, we are sorry to say, “Hissy is not for sale”. The Lord has blessed us this year with so many special jennet foals that we thought it might be time to start keeping a few for ourselves. Don't worry..we will start selling our jennet foals again next year! Hissy is bff with Nitie.
